Ordinary tourist visa

Ordinary tourist visas are issued to foreign nationals or stateless persons entering the Russian Federation for a short stay in the country for the purpose of tourism. Tourist visa to the Russian Federation can be for single, double or multiple entry.

The maximum validity of a tourist visa cannot exceed 30 days in the case of single and double-entry visas.

Double-entry tourist visas are issued to foreign citizens only in cases when, according to supporting documents, the tourist intends to visit other states during his visit to Russia and then return through the territory of Russia.

Tourist visas for multiple entries are issued only in the case of citizens from the countries mentioned in the Government Decree of 16 February 2023 No. 372-r (the list is constantly updated). Now Denmark is not on the list.

List of required documents:

1. Application form for visa. It is filled out on the website visa.kdmid.ru, printed, and attached to the documents. Pay attention to the correct indication of the place of application in the printed form. The form must be completed for the Embassy (check the right corner of the printed form). Application forms prepared for the Visa Application Center will not be accepted.

2. Passport. Must have at least 2 blank pages and be valid for a further 6 months from the visa expiry date.

3. Travel insurance covering the entire stay in Russia. The policy must contain at least the following information: full name of the insured, policy number, validity period, region of coverage (eg Russia or the whole world, etc.).

4. Min. 1 color photograph 35 x 45 mm on a light background. In Denmark, such a photograph is often referred to as a "passport photo".

5. Document invitation for tourist visa. This can be: a tourist voucher from a Russian tourist company (they have the company number in the register of tour operators) or a confirmation of receipt of a foreign tourist/confirmation from a hotel included in the register of Russian hotels. In other words, this is not just a reservation or booking, but a separate document signed or stamped by the hotel or travel company.

If you live at a private address with a Russian citizen, we recommend that your host obtain an "invitation" through the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs - MVD (see "Private" visa section).

In the case of applying for a tourist visa for 2 entries, you must also have a confirmation (for example, a visa) for the country you will enter after Russia. For instance, if after a tourist trip to Russia (first entry) you immediately travel to Mongolia and then return through the territory of Russia, you must confirm that you have reason to enter Mongolia (visa, etc.) and you plan to return to Russia on the way back (ie tickets required).

Note - if you are not a Danish citizen, you must present a document confirming the right to stay in Denmark for a period of more than 90 days (residence permit, letter from the migration authority, etc.). A permanent residence permit is required from citizens of the following countries: Algeria, Angola, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Georgia, India, Iraq, Iran, China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Syria, Somalia, Chad, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia.
