Tourist visa
A tourist visa can be issued for a period not more than 30 days and it can be single or double entry only.
Documents required for application
In order to apply for a single entry tourist visa you should submit the following set of documents:
- An original passport which should be valid not less than 6 months after the last day of your trip to Russia and contain at least two blank pages.
- One printout of a duly completed application form for each applicant. The application form should be filled in online on the website visa.kdmid.ru.
- One passport photograph stuck to the application form.
- A tourist voucher and a confirmation of acceptance of a foreign tourist. These two documents can be obtained either from a Russian tourist company accredited by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or from a hotel in Russia where the applicant is planning to stay also accredited by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- A travel insurance certificate valid in Russia during the whole period of the trip.
Attention: a booking confirmation or a hotel reservation is NOT a tourist voucher. A tourist voucher and a confirmation of acceptance of a foreign tourist should be specially requested.
Attention: if the applicant has ever been a citizen of USSR or the Russian Federation a certificate of citizenship secession should be provided.
For hunters:
If the purpose of a trip is hunting, this should be specifically stated in a tourist voucher and confirmation of acceptance of a foreign tourist. Please, request the purpose of the trip to be stated as tourism-hunting (туризм-охота), while arranging a tourist voucher.
For travellers by car:
When travelling to Russia by car, please, ask to state the checkpoint where the Russian border will be crossed in a tourist voucher and confirmation of acceptance of a foreign tourist. While getting a tourist voucher, please, request the purpose of the trip to be stated as car tourism (автотуризм).
When going for treatment:
When travelling to Russia for medical consultations or for medical examination, this should be specifically stated in a tourist voucher and confirmation of acceptance of a foreign tourist. Please, request the purpose of the trip to be stated as special tourism (целевой туризм).
When going for business:
If you will travel to Russia to participate in auctions, exhibitions, negotiations on special tours together with sightseeing etc., remember to ask the travel agency to state this in a tourist voucher and confirmation of acceptance of a foreign tourist. Please, request the purpose of the trip to be stated as special tourism (целевой туризм).
Double entry tourist visa
The visa of this type can be issued when the applicant wants to visit adjacent countries for instance, Baltic states or the CIS countries as a part of his or her trip. The tourist voucher should contain information about the countries which the applicant intends to visit and the checkpoints where the Russian border will be crossed.
